With your presence we are going to show who ownes Long Beach waters!!! The event is from 9:30 to 10:30AM. I know it's kinda bad b/c ppl need to work (I am telling my boss I have a doc's appt.) :P

We are entered in 4 divisions: an open division (men’s), two mixed divisions and women’s.

The callers are Huay, Laura, and Leon (depending on race and schedule), and the steerers are Eddy and Kenny P, (also schedule dependent).

Reminder to report to all team captains if you will be away from the team tent or race site at any time, especially close to race times. We will be meeting to stretch, as a team, an hour before any scheduled races. Participation is mandatory, even if you are not in the race. If you are not present to stretch out, your seat may be immediately filled. Also remember to hydrate a minimum of an hour before any scheduled races. Through this week, please taper your workout regimen to reduce muscle fatigue for this weekend.

You guys have been putting in tremendous efforts, at practice, within the officers, as teammates and friends. Thank you for making the beginning of this season so enjoyable. But we’re not done yet. Let’s show the results of our hard work, as we are represented as the home team, and go kick some ass. Thanks to the veterans and a huge welcome to our new paddlers. See you this weekend!

Team,

The CRASH

I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you that attended the races this past weekend. what a great weekend!

Our teams paddled exceptionally well and we even got to take an unexpected swim. we watched the footage of the crash at Kim's place (thanks Kim!), it was absolutely hilarious. hopefully we can get the crash and other footage on our website soon. if any of you want a tape of most of the race footage (one of team red's saturday's races was inadvertently deleted), bring a blank vhs tape to practice on sunday, and i'll try to dub as many of them as i can....(diane, i still have your tape, so i'll add the race footage to the practice footage)...

Our team has been working hard to improve and i can definitely see the progress, let's go get 'em in Oakland!

. . . [ a short excerpt ]

The Los Angeles Racing Dragons capsized during their heat when Wasabi Women's Team Huge crashed into them. There were 18 members aboard who landed in the water as their boat flipped over, and they eventually dragged the boat onto shore. Wasabi's coach and paddler Kim Ketcham searched out fellow contestants to apologize.

"We were clearly not in the right place," she said. "We feel really horrible."

It was a pretty contentious day as other conflicts arose over some final results.
